SX Rookie: Los Angeles 2012

There have been only three rounds of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and it seems that with every next round I learn something new about SX. The last race at Dodger Stadium, LA have left me with mixed feelings. I have seen a horrible crash at a local motocross race, so I know that bad things can happen. But I would have never thought there will be such a horrible crash in Supercross this season. When I have heard that Ryan Morais and Trey Canard are in a hospital and that the race had to be red flagged and restarted, I thought:“What the hell is going on?!” Later, I got to know that Trey had some problems with his bike and Ryan landed on him, leaving both motionless on the track. They were rushed to hospital right away. Trey Canard has fractured some vertebra in his back, Ryan Morais has fractured three vertebrae in his neck and broken jaw.

After the restart Weimer got the holeshot. Villopoto wasn’t lucky with the second start. He jumped out of the track and got a little bit of behind his racing-mates. However, Villopoto was already on the 8th place in the 9th lap and he was giving  Stewart, racing on third, a tough time in the final lap.

The Australian, Chad Reed was on fire as never before. He was attacking James Stewart on second and then his fight for the first position between Weimer was spectacular. The only rider of the TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing Chad Reed took his first win of the season. Ryan Dungey finished second and James Stewart third.

I would have said that the race at Dodger Stadium was pretty much great, if Canard and Morais didn’t crash. I’m wishing FAST RECOVERY TO TREY CANARD and RYAN MORAIS!
