Interesting news about Kimi Räikkönen sneaked out to the world. According to an article in Turun Sanomat, Kimi is going to race NASCAR.
Well, Kimi got an offer to race NASCAR and he actually has taken the chance. He is going to race the Truck Series before a possible future switch to the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup stock car disciplines.
The former Formula 1 and a present WRC driver will race under the ICE 1 Racing banner with Foster Gillett as a major partner of the team.
I’ve always known that Kimi is interested in everything, literally everything. He loves Ice Hockey, Motocross and different disciplines of motor racing. What’s more, he seems to be interested in the American athletes’ lifestyle or life in general. At least, this is how I see it.
“I’m really looking forward to get there to familiarize to the world of NASCAR,” told Kimi to Turun Sanomat. “I have been following it for a long time. I know it’s a very tough and open, top racing series. I just love the American spirit of racing. It feels just great to get involved with that. Obviously, it will be very challenging and great fun for me.”
Honestly, I have no problems with that; I just can’t understand why he has picked NASCAR. Even Nelson Piquet and Juan Pablo Montoya are please to hear about Kimi’s new adventure.
Räikkönen is going to race some time in the summer. However, this „fun“ will not affect his WRC racing. He’s committed himself to 10 events and he won’t turn back to them. The next event he is going to take part is be Jordan Rally in April.
