WRC: Rallye de France 2010

I wish I could say Double K power can get through anything. Both – the Finnish Citroen Junior, Kimi Räikkönen and the Monster, Ken Block were doing amazing jobs on stages during the first day. However, things changed on Saturday. Kimi Räikkönen finished 7th on Friday, but dropped time after overshooting a junction, while Ken Block, who started the day 10th, picked up a 1m 40s time penalty for leaving service 10 minutes late when work to repair his Ford’s hydraulic system overran.

However, Kimi hit trouble halfway through the stage. He drove off the road and stuck in a ditch. Whilst Ken Block with Alex Gelsomino was doing a great job, Kimi Räikkönen bowed out by drifting wide and beaching his C4 WRC car off the road. Kimi and Kaj were uninjured in the slow speed crash, but were out of the Saturday’s competition. The car wasn’t damaged and was prepared for the final day. But Kimi decided not to continue on Sunday because he didn’t want to risk another drif off the road and damaging the car.

Well, the weekend was successful for the Monster World Rally Team. Ken Block finally finished a whole rally weekend. What’s more, he ended 12th overall! Here’s a onboard video. Enjoy Ken‘s driving 🙂

Sebastian Loeb is the happiest WRC driver thought. The Frenchman won the French rally and secured the 2010 title. This is what I call a to the limit successful weekend. Congratulation!
